One of my favorite things in the whole entire universe is to read. I love books, and after opening all my books that have been in storage, I realized I need to share my love with the world. I honestly believe that people who do not "like to read" are just not reading the right books. So here it is...a list of books that carry the name of feminism. And honestly when I say feminism, I am for once using the term lightly...these books really are just girls being there for girls and writing these books for them. These books are a pick me up. These books make you feel powerful. These books make you know that you are not alone.
1. Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
By far, Milk and Honey is my favorite book in the whole world along with a couple million other women in the world. It is a powerful book of poetry that touches every part of your core. It's a book of hurting, healing, and redemption. You see all these text posts on Twitter about the book, so you might as well read the whole thing. It's amazing.
2. Nice Is A Place In France by The Betches
This book made me laugh. I wouldn't necessarily say it is a "feminist" book seeing that it goes against basically all the ideas of "I don't need a man"; however, it's hilarious and brutally honest. If your feelings are easily hurt, I would suggest not reading it, but if you are looking to learn how to no longer be a push over, this is the book for you.
3. Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham
I really, really loved this book. I can honestly say I finished it in a day because I spent the whole day reading it. It's a group of essays thrown together by the lovely Lena Dunham. Every essay makes you laugh, but the honesty makes you understand that every girl struggles through life and you aren't alone. The relatability of her work is astounding, and makes you understand that even at your worst, most embarrassing moments, you're most likely not alone.
4. How To Build A Girl by Caitlin Moran
If you want some good fiction, this is for you. The beginning makes you cringe and the author does an amazing job at making you feel uncomfortable, but as you read more and more of the book, it teaches you to love your truest self no matter how cringe worthy you are. I also hear her book, How To Build A Woman is amazing as well.
5. Bukowski In A Sundress by Kim Addonizio
Maybe I just love this book because of its confessions from a writing life, but this book is so funny and real.
