You Know You Love Books When...

Don't worry, you aren't the only one whose life revolves around books.

No matter the genre, books have become a staple in some peoples' lives. Don't worry, you aren't the only one. Nonfiction, fiction, adult, young adult—the choices are endless. All you need is a good book to be transported to a whole new world. If your life revolves around books, all of these will seem relatable.

1. You are constantly reorganizing your bookshelves.

Some people organize by author or alphabetically. Then you see a picture of a shelf organized by color, and you feel the need to try. We all do it. It is a constant struggle to keep up with the new ways to organize. Yet, it turns into a game. Trying to come up with new ways that really makes your shelves stand out is always a hobby for book lovers.

2. Your TBR pile is constantly growing.

With the constant publication of new books, it's impossible to not pick up a couple. Your "To Be Read" pile suffers dramatically from this. It's constantly growing from all your book purchases. But, it's okay! You surround yourself with literature, and that is a book lover's fantasy.

3. You're constantly talking about books.

Not only do you love reading books, you love talking about them. You could talk about them forever. Plots, characters, symbolism, the whole lot. And when you meet another book lover, you've hit the jackpot. Now, sometimes your talk does go over heads, but they just aren't on your bookish level.

4. You feel as if you are in the book.

When you read a book, sometimes you feel an immediate connection. It could be just by physical description, or it could be the character's personality. That connection makes you dive deep into the world and never look back. People dress up and do all other sorts of bookish things to express this love. Go ahead, be whatever character you connect to most!

5. Book stores are your favorite places.

As a book store employee, I can personally vouch for this. The atmosphere is such a wonderful place for any book lover. I see the same people day after day just basking in the environment. You are surrounded by countless books to just peruse. It is a fantasy land of books of all kinds. A book lover will always be able to find at least one book they want to read. But let's be honest, it is more like one hundred books!

6. You love BookTube.

All modern book lovers have to know about BookTube. The community of avid readers online is infectious, and everyone is ready for a new book after an hour. You find so many reviews or book talks, that you learn something new every video. It doesn't hurt that the community is filled with amazing like-minded people to connect with. It keeps you updated and entertained.

7. You constantly lend out books.

Every book lover wants to share their favorite books with the people around them. And what better way to do that then lending them out. You may be protective with it, but you feel like you are exposing others to awesome new worlds. Then, sometimes you need to be a little forceful to make others read it. But it's all fair in love and books.

8. You fangirl over all the characters.

Fangirling has officially become a hobby for book lovers. Authors are so amazing with crafting complex characters, that it is impossible to not freak out whenever they do something worthy. When the love interest compliments the narrator, it is impossible to not swoon at the cuteness. But we all do it, and it is absolutely normal when you surround yourself with fangirl worthy books.

9. You have mixed feelings on cover changes.

You have a love/hate relationship with cover changes. Sometimes they are for the better, and sometimes they make the book worse. Especially when they are in the middle of a series! You have two books in a glorious hardback cover, and then they change the rest to something sub-par. It is something we all have to deal with, but we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover change. Right?

10. Relaxing means cuddling up with a good book.

I mean it is a book lover's dream. Cuddled up in bed with a good book is what we all want. Throw in a hot beverage and a warm blanket, nothing could be better. Bonus points if it is raining! Go on and relax your heart out!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
