Bone Broth: YES! Or Yuck!

Both Broth, miracle liquid or gross myth?

Bone Broth: YES! Or Yuck!
Platings & Pairings

Bone Broth is a type of stock that is produced by boiling bones and other flavors. Bone Broth is simmered for long periods, in hope that vitamins, proteins, and gelatin from the collagen-rich joints release minerals and healing agents.

Your grandparents most likely cooked Bone Broth. Where do you think the thought of eating chicken noodle soup when you are ill came from? You can't possibly think the sodium-filled, gluten, hormone filled, canned chicken noodle soup is good for you? :)

Special emphasis on the preparation of the whole animal including using bones for making broths is well known across the globe. Both Broths are extraordinary rich in protein and can be a great source of minerals. All of these healing agents are great for our bodies. Some think these agents are worth the gross factor. The Glycine that is released from the animal bones support digestion and the secretion of gastric acids. The bones also contain Proline, which supports good skin health. Bone Broths also contain Gelatin which is great for skin and digestive health. This can play a huge role in autoimmune diseases and digestive disorders.

In my personal experience, Bone Broth has healed leaky gut syndrome that is caused by Celiac Disease. Bone Broth is also great for:

  • Overcoming food intolerances and allergies
  • Improving joint health
  • Reducing cellulite
  • Boosting immune system

Multiple studies have shown how Bone Broth is great for restoring the gut lining and fighting food sensitives (such as wheat, dairy, etc.), also aiding in the growth of probiotics and good bacteria in the gut! Another great factor of this healing agent is it supports healthy inflammation levels in the digestive tract! Bone Broth is easily digested and soothing for the tummy.

If making Bone Broth homemade, it is super economical! I would recommend ensuring the bones are from local farms that place an importance on the animals being grass-fed and hormone-free. Some local food stores like Dierbergs even sell bone broth pre-made and is a great easy option for illness! Bone Broth can be stored in the fridge for no longer than a week. You can also freeze in the freezer and keep it up to 6 months. It is advised that Bone Broth only be warmed up on the stove top, as putting it in the microwave could risk killing the healing agents that are alive and help keep you well! The simmering of the bones and ligaments allow healing compounds to release like collagen, proline, glycine, and glutamine that have the power to heal and transform your body.

Store bought stock and broth are not real. They are lab-produced meat flavors in bouillon cubes, soups, and sauces. Manufacturers also began to use MSG as a meat flavor but is actually a neurotoxin. So next time you go to use a fake meat flavor, consider Bone Broth which also happens to be packed with healing components! Bone Broth also contains potassium and glycine, which supports both cellular and liver detoxification, so no more green tea detox scams!

What do you think? Gross, No way! YES, Totally Worth it!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
