Know How To Connect With Your Family Members In This Technology Era

For young parents with babies and toddlers, it is a typical sight to see gadgets in our hands and all attention divided, this is the case of an average family today, especially for those units with the need to be on social media to talk with far distance-living relatives. But is this helpful in any way? The damage technology has had on our attention and face to face ability is documented, but technology is not going anywhere. It is here to stay. So is it possible to use this technology to our advantage especially bonding with our family members? All our tablets, smartphones, social media, apps and the whole lot can be used to create strong relationships with our parents, siblings - the close ones and here are a few tips.

Power of reflection.

Have you ever noticed how we stock up so much in our phones and forget about it? Remember the pictures you took two years ago? Messages you stored three years ago? Can you even retrieve them? Are they as appealing to the eye as they were then? How often do you refer to them? We have so many chats and memories stored in our phones and retrieving all this information always appears to be a daunting task. This is where apps such as Momee come in handy. It is easier than ever before to save and retrieve your baby's milestones and keep memories of your little one safe. It is easy to recover images saved many years ago and even be able to share with your other family members. When one wishes to look back and reflects on special occasions, as a walk down the memory lane, it is much more comfortable with a tool that provides time, date and title to the moment of Baby.

You Can Track Your Baby's Milestones.

Do you remember how excited you were the first time your little girl started crawling? How about the day she made her first step? Amazing feeling right? And are you worried that on your next trip you will miss some of the milestones? Are you concerned that while you are away at work, you will miss your baby? This is where technology comes in, all these baby steps and milestones can be tracked, and you will never miss a moment away from your little angel.

Open yet private communication.

Every young parent should use every tool available to communicate with their relatives and keep communication lines open. Today our retired parents communicate via chats, Facebook, Momee, and even email which many think is outdated. Likewise, as young parents, we must do the same if we want to strengthen our bond with the close ones. Text from grandpa is nice but to share a significant moment of our baby to only the family circle should be a special memory on private network media, for instance, Momee, it goes a long way in fostering love and open communication with our relatives.

Exploration with the relatives' help.

With our modern technology, the world is now at our fingertips. For instance, if Mummy is away and receives a post from Auntie with a picture post of Baby stands up for the first time, she can feel supported as well as closer as if she was not away for that. This moment is easily time lined as a new step of Baby in the form of a journal in child development that everyone else in the circle can be a support to document to other relatives.

With all the different chat capabilities, parents have no excuse of not being connected with their children. Dad who is away on a trip can video chat with his son to wish him a good night before going to bed. He can read him his favorite story on video. The brave soldier can shed tears as his wife holds his newborn son up to the camera.

Vaccination Calendars And Reminders.

I know it is quite draining to juggle between family and work. It is understandable especially for the career women but hey, not to worry, there are up to date apps such as Baby Center, or Momee that can help you track your baby's vaccination dates and ensure you never miss. Your next appointments can easily be marked on the visual calendar available and even get to set reminders so that you are up to date with your child's clinic appointments.

Tracking Your (Grand)Child's Growth Chart.

Did you know that you do not need to go to the hospital every month to weigh and keep tabs with your baby's growth? Sounds interesting right? Yeah, I was also blown away the first time I saw this. And you know what is even more interesting? You can share these amazing moments with your baby's grandmother, auntie or cousins. Remember how our friends usually ask how big a baby is? How tall? Simply grab that phone, open the app and show them the growth patterns.

Showing Cultural Differences.

There is so much we can learn and teach our children through technology. There is a common cliché that ‟a stranger is simply a friend you haven't met" and the statement is so true in this modern world. This world has become a global village. For instance, you can help your far away parents understand why certain people from certain backgrounds foster and care for children the way they do. Simple video call to distant living aunties and uncles can help your toddlers learn why certain cultures have specific values. As young as three years your child is capable of understanding certain concepts, and they will stick to their mind.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
