A mother-daughter relationship is unlike any other relationship in the world. A mother is a girl that knows you better than you know yourself, and a daughter is a girl that reminds you to stay youthful and free.
I recently started watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix earlier this month, and let me say one thing, it has changed. my. world. If you haven't watched it I strongly advise you do. It's a story that follows a single mother and her daughter and all the craziness that takes place in a small town. Throughout the series, they experience all things life has to offer: family, friendship, and love. They also experience the struggle of work, education, and ambition to get ahead in life. But what makes this show different from others is that this mother-daughter duo always conquer it together. Throughout the episodes, they're constantly reminding their viewers that they're each other's best friends. And I then can't help but think about mine.
I can whole-heartedly say my mom is my best friend. Without a doubt in the world, no hesitation, no questions.
She is the one woman I can count on any time of the day, with any situation, and know I'll get a response that is from the heart and is for my best interest. She's my best friend.
We fit together like peanut butter and jelly, sharing some of our darkest secrets and fears without judgment. She's my best friend.
She's the one I want to hug after a long day, and know that everything is going to be okay when the world seems like it's falling apart. She's my best friend.
She's the one person I want to spend my days with, even when she gets under my skin because she's the only one that understands me better than anybody else. She's my best friend.
Watching Gilmore Girls has opened my eyes to how lucky I am to have an incredible, inspiring, loving lady in my life. Because not everyone is lucky enough to have a mom like mine, and for that, I'm eternally grateful.
So the next time you see your mom make sure you hug her a little tighter, a little longer and tell her you love her because she's the one woman in your life that'll never leave your side even in the darkest of times.
