It is that time of the year where students begin to dress in more comfortable clothes, shower less, meals become less of a priority, and sleep is very limited. It is finals time. It can get so overwhelming and people tend to forgot about the number one thing we all need, which is self care. We especially need it during stressful times like this. Well, lucky for you, Boise State is putting on some awesome Finals Relief programs to help you destress and self care during this time! Finals relief programs will be held from April 30th through May 4th and there will be so much offered!

1. Late Night Breakfast

Take a break from the books and head on over to the SUB Dining Area to receive FREE breakfast (with student ID) on Sunday April 30th (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.), yum! Who could pass up a free meal?

2. Study Environments

It's back: 24 hour days in the library start during dead week and go until the end of finals week (excluding the weekend in between). Go meet new people at 3 a.m. in the library and cheer each other on as you drink that 5th coffee. The writing center will also be open Monday through Thursday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Friday (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) during dead week and finals week. There will also be study stations in the Ah Fong and Alexander rooms in the SUB from Friday April 28th through Thursday May 4th (4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.).

3. Fitness

Come destress with Yoga on the Blue at Albertsons Stadium on Saturday April 29th (10 a.m.) and this is FREE with your student ID. Can't make it to Yoga on the Blue? You are in luck! The rec will be offering some awesome work out classes throughout dead week and finals week as well!

4. Massages

There will be free 10 minute massages in the Quad from Monday May 1st through Thursday May 4th (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Oh, there will also be coffee, hot coco, and snacks there too.

5. Food

Take a break to enjoy some tacos and free billiards or bowling on Tuesday April 25th (5 p.m. to 10 p.m.) in the Game Center. The snack trolley will be back again in the library from Sunday April 30th through Thursday May 4th (9 p.m.) on all floors of the library. You don't want to miss out!

6. Puppies

Who wants to hang out with some puppies? I know you do! Come enjoy the Puppy Love Therapy and Service Dog Program happening in the Quad May 1st through May 4th (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Also, if you live on campus, look out for when the puppies will be coming to your community!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
