Every time my friends and I drive in the car, we have full out dance parties. We always listen to the same songs because everyone knows them and we have "choreographed" dances to them. Our favorites from our car playlist are "Finesse" by Bruno Mars, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston, "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift, and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Now, you might be thinking "Why Bohemian Rhapsody?" Well, This song is one of the best songs out there, in my opinion.
There are so many different styles of music within this one six-minute song. The song allows for screaming at the top of your lungs, head banging, and softer ballad singing.
This song was released with the band's 1975 album, A Night At The Opera. It was written entirely by Freddie Mercury, which we see in the Movie titled Bohemian Rhapsody that was released on November 2, 2018. The movie showcases the band and their rise to fame. Along with Mercury, the original band includes Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon.
I have yet to see the movie, but I am looking forward to it. I have been excited for it to come out since I first heard about it over the summer.
The fact that a movie just came out about this song is a testament to its greatness and reputation. The song is still popular after being out for over 40 years. It is enjoyed by every generation. The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004.
The band never explicitly said what the song was about. They wanted to leave it up to the listener and the imagination. Some theories suggest the song is about Freddie Mercury's sexuality, his trauma of being forced out of his home, or a man that killed someone and feels guilty about it.
I have never been too worried about the meaning behind the song. I know that I like it and can dance to it, and that it is good for me.
When my friends are in the car dancing to this song, we do the same thing every time. We start soft and then pretend to play the various instruments as the song goes on. Once we get into the middle of the song, we are full on screaming and hang banging to the beat of the music. There is no other way for us to listen to the song. We never skip through it. We always take it and give our pretend performance 100%.
The best part of this song is the love for it shared by a variety of different people. It is still song around the world today.
