Body Shaming Is So "Uncool"

How would you like it if I sat there and shamed you for your body?

" Body shaming is not just about beauty. When we limit what is allowed to be called beautiful, wealso limit who is allowed to feel confident, empowered, important, sexy, brave, and proud."

I never understood why body shaming was a "cool" thing to do or at least people thought it was cool to do. Body shaming is a large reason why women in todays society feel they can not wear what they want, be who they want, and succeed the way the way they want to. Being skinny, a little on the heavy side or over weight shouldn't concern anyone other than yourself! You should be able to walk out of your house in the morning and felt simply beautiful!

I must shed some light on a recent body shaming incident which sent alot of social media into a frenzy of mixed emotions! This past sunday Lady Gaga blessed us with her absolutely amazing performance at Superbowl 51! Need I remind you she looked BEAUTIFUL!!!!! But of course as always theres that one person who had to take to social media to show us that she had the slightest bit of flab hanging over her shorts. Excuse you but if you think that, she is fat at all maybe you should go to the eye doctor because you have no idea what you were looking at!

First of all you have to take into consideration she is wearing tight shorts! I know when i wear tight clothing my stomach hangs over likes theres no tomorrow! Lady gaga is all about self love and if she loves the way she looks then why should you even care?

People, with pure intentions of insulting someone, constantly throw around “her body is so flat,” and “He’s fat, that makes him so ugly,” and “you need to lose weight.” Nobody chooses the body they have. Everyone is born into that body without a choice. As Lady Gaga herself says " We were born this way". If someone is healthy then it should not matter what they look like to anyone but their own.

One day hopefully soon I'd like to see the stop to body shaming. Instead compliment others on how good they look no matter what they look like. Stop putting peolple down and making them unhappy! It starts with you! Make a change!

Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
