Body Positivity Is So Important

It's a tough conversation to have, but if nobody wants to start it off, I guess I will.

Somehow I have catapulted myself into the realm of advocacy for Body Positivity and the further and further I get into my journey, I find myself more eager to look forward rather than looking back. It's such an emotional, and controversial topic. But, the conversation needs to happen, so I'll start it off. Who knows, maybe this small town girl really CAN make a difference.

The current body positivity movement, in my opinion, tends to focus on our bigger Queens. Don't get me wrong, that's great! It's amazing to witness a movement backing them up, and saying "hey girl, love yourself. No matter what!" But, what about our smaller Queens? Our Queens that are right in the middle? What about our Kings? What about our LGBT Kings and Queens? We're forgetting about a large portion of our population, and that's not okay. Body Positivity is not for one specific group, it's for all of us. We're all human, and let's be real: In today's society, nothing pleases anyone. We're all chained to the same standards and stereotypes and the more we ignore it, and keep adding fuel to the fire by being divided, the worse it's going to get. I don't know about you, but when I reach that point in my life where I'm ready to bring children into this world, I want it to be one where being who they are, is okay. Because it is. I want it to be a world where diversity is beautiful, because beauty comes in all different sizes and colors. Beauty has no limits. Our society has made it so easy to fall into bad habits, just because we don't look a certain way and it breaks my heart.

Being someone who has suffered a great deal from these disastrous beauty standards, this topic means a lot much to me. And with my launch into advocacy for it, it's given me the opportunity to do research and gain facts to back up my arguments, rather than just having my otherwise irrelevant opinion. As a society, we need to do better. And that's why I've started my own movement, because we need to be the change that we want to see in the world.

The Love Revolution, is a Body Positivity Movement for everyone. Every single individual on this planet no matter your size, ethnic background or gender. There should be no competition between movements for specific groups of people versus each other. This movement is for us to move as one. To love as one. To ACCEPT as one. The hate and the body shaming, needs to stop! We're all just trying to make it through this life and it's a lot easier with love.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
