A Week 12 Review Of Body Boss

Admittedly, this final review came about a month after I finished the Body Boss Program, whoops! Life gets away from us, can I get an amen?! Anyways, onto the good stuff.

It was February 2018 when I passed by my bedroom mirror and immediately did one of those *stop in your tracks* moments. I took two steps backwards and took a closer look. As any woman in her 20's can attest, I was met with an image that I wasn't particularly proud of. Although by no means overweight or, dare I say, unpleasant to look at, I was still somewhat embarrassed by what two years at a sedentary job had done to me. Needless to say, a change was about to be made. And a change I pursued.

For months, an advertisement had been popping up on my Facebook feed called Body Boss. Of course, it was a video of tanned, ripped models doing different circuit training exercises. Needless to say, I'll probably always be "put off" by such shameless advertising as I have a conscious understanding of what my body can and can't look like. Either way, I somehow managed to knock down the wall of self-deprecation and did some more research into the actual nuts and bolts of the program.

I was delighted to learn that the program was well laid-out with differing levels, intensities and time-frames of high-intensity training workouts. After some serious pondering, I clicked the purchase button and away we went.

Twelve weeks, hours of sweat, and gallons of water later, I completed the program. I'll get down to the knitty gritty and say right off the bat that I didn't lose any weight. Ironically, I gained 9 pounds. On a surface, girlish level, I can see how that should be devastating. Wasn't the whole point to lose weight? You may ask. Well, yeah, if the number is all that matters to you. Thankfully, I decided to track my progress on a more productive level.

I lost a total of 6 inches around my entire body--that may not sound like much but, keep in mind, I'm 5'2" (on a good day) and weighed 130 lbs at the onset of the program. Losing 6 inches for someone my size is kind of like a 4'11" basketball player making it big in the NBA. I am quite proud of that achievement and the Body Boss workout worked fantastically for someone like me.

If anyone wants to give it a try, I will give some cautionary advise. I was very active all throughout high school and college and developed a strong, solid core during those years. The HIIT (high intensity interval training) circuits of Body Boss regularly demand a strong core to stabilize movements and joints. If you feel that your core is the thing that needs strengthening, the Body Boss should be a fantastic way to do just that, just be careful not to strain yourself into injury.

I would also advise potential Body Bosser's to take days off. For the first 8 weeks, I didn't take a day off and my body hated me for it. At the onset of the 9th week, I did the unthinkable and decided to take the week off. It was like my body was just waiting for a reprieve and I lost a 1/2 inch around my waist in that week. If I learned anything from this program, it's to listen to my body at all costs. Believe it or not, my body knows what's best for me.

In conclusion, I thought the Body Boss program was perfect for someone like me who wanted to regain strength and tone up. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone who might share those goals as it was insightful, fun and made me feel like a total boss.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
