Boba tea is a intriguingly delicious treat that combines that ingredients of milk, tea, and tapioca peals. This different drink originated in Taiwan during the 1980's when tapioca pearls were first introduced to region by Lui Han-Chieh. These pearls resemble white and black marbles. The white tapioca are made of caramel, starch, and chamomile root extract, while the black tapioca are made of sweet potato, cassava root, and brown sugar. The trend of adding tapioca pearls to tea drinks became popular all throughout Asia and eventually spread to other parts of the world. Since the tapioca pearls looked like small bubbles at the bottom of the cup, boba tea was quickly nicknamed "bubble tea."

Every tea is served cold with a large straw so the drinker can suck up the layer of tiny tapioca balls that accumulate at the bottom of the cup. The tea flavor options are endless and range from tangy green apple to sweet coconut. The flavored tea is mixed with a choice of milk, creating a smooth, creamy liquid current to transport the each yummy boba ball from the cup to your stomach. Original boba is soft and chewy. The tapioca pearls on their own are not flavorful; mixing with the tea is how these marbles attain taste. There are alternative bobas that have been given specific flavors and even some that are filled with jelly and burst when pierced with the teeth. Between the different black and green tea flavors, the types of milk, and all of the flavors of boba and bursting boba, there will always be a new combination to try; mix and match until you create the perfect pair. The trend of putting balls of tapioca into tea drinks became popular all throughout Asia, as well as other parts of the world. Eventually, the tea concoction became known as "bubble tea" because the tapioca pieces resembled little bubbles at the bottom of the cup.

Not only is boba tea a delicious drink, but the tapioca pearls are also a filling snack. If you are looking for a tasty treat that uniquely combines the cool, smooth sensation of sipping sweet, flavored tea with chewing gelatin-like marbles, then you need to give boba tea a try. After you have one, you will immediately start counting down the days until you can get your lips on that boba sucking straw once again because this fun food is so satisfying.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. "Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
