I must first preface this article by stating that although I am a female who identifies as a feminist who can’t stand the objectification of women, I love "Blue Mountain State." For anyone who watches the show it is crude, rude, and obscene, but it is hilarious. The plot line is not meant to pull you in and keep you interested for seasons upon seasons; it is merely meant to entertain. BMS is the show where you can get caught up watching seven episodes in a row because they only last about 20 minutes.
When it was announced that there would be a "Blue Mountain State" movie being made the fans across the country rejoiced. We all set our calendars for September of 2015 when this glorious movie was supposedly being released. Yet, the time came and there was no trailer, let alone a movie. We were all disappointed and continuously have been biding our time until a trailer would be released. We may have lost hope there for a while, but on the 16th of January that all changed: Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland was released.
Our beloved Thad and Alex (and Sammy) are back in a gut-wrenchingly funny movie about Alex finally having the goat house. But, of course the goat house cannot come to Alex easily because the whole series is about Alex having to experience the hardships and crazy adventures (but mostly benefits) of being the second string quarterback for the BMS football team. Alex is moving into the goat house, his right as a BMS football player. Yet, there is a new administrator on campus who no longer wants the football players to live in the house. Alex is not going to let this happen, and comes up with a plan so that he can still live in the house. This is where Thad, quite possibly my favorite BMS character and not just because of how attractive he is, enters the movie. Alex wants Thad to buy the goat house so they can live out their final seasons in the goat house throwing the crazy parties we all know and love. Thad has one request before he will buy the goat house: throw a party with a theme called Thadland. Alex obliges and the trailer ends with us waiting to see what will happen this time in the crazy antics that usually unfold.
As we are counting down the days until the movie is released, and anxiously waiting for more teaser trailers, we always have the four seasons on Netflix to keep us entertained. I for one can’t wait for the movie to come out, since my sorority sister is planning a date night with me instead of her boyfriend, sorry Ben.
"Blue Mountain State," thanks for giving me a show that’s funny no matter what.
