Once again, during the very festive holiday season, I have returned to inform you of various movies that are worthy of your wallet being dented (that's what Christmas is all about right?). It could be arduous searching and scavenging for the perfects gifts to present to your loved ones but luckily there are some blu-rays on the horizon. If your family or friends are fans of major motion pictures, then perhaps you should continue to read on. And with that said, here are my movie recommendations for December of 2016!
DECEMBER 6TH:
JASON BOURNE is not the greatest movie of the year but it does have quite a few redeeming qualities. Matt Damon returns to one of his most iconic roles with ease within an action packed adventure that features quite a few new characters as well. The story of this sequel may not compare to the other three beloved installments but the action is incredible enough to warrant a purchase. If you haven't seen the other films though, there's nothing wrong with being introduced to Mr. Bourne here.
THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS is one of the most successful animated movies of the year and it's also one of the more lighthearted animated movies too. In a year where Disney has dominated the genre as it usually tends to do, this movie just has a good time with an interesting premise and a colorful string of characters taking on many animalistic forms. Children of all ages will take liking to the vibrant tone while adults may find humor in the subtleties.
DECEMBER 13TH:
SUICIDE SQUAD is the second installment within the DC Cinematic Universe this year next to the one about superheroes fighting each other for nonsensical reasons. This movie is all about the villains having a grand old time and the Joker (played by Jared Leto) makes an appearance too. I wasn't the biggest fan of this one but a majority of audiences had a great time watching it in theaters back in August. All fans of comic book movies should pick this one up if they're curious!
DECEMBER 20TH:
SULLY is a film based around the true events of the pilot who landed a crashing airplane in the Hudson River in 2009. Tom Hanks is exceptional as always and the plot is more surprisingly compelling than one may assume. It's also much shorter than typical biographical films based on a real person tend to be, clocking in at just over 90 minutes long. The purchase is warranted for an engaging lesson in recent New York history and the theme of unity.
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN is awesome! There's no simpler way of putting it when it comes to this modern remake of a western classic. Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt lead a versatile cast in a "popcorn blockbuster" that never lets go once it grabs you. While there is a severe lack of depth and character to this movie, there is an excess of fun. For everybody looking to enjoy themselves thoroughly, this movie is for them!
