1. Anatolia Turkish Cuisine

With their homemade bread, amazing hummus and tasty kebabs, it’s no surprise that this Turkish restaurant was nominated the Best Ethnic Restaurant in 2014. The inside of this unique restaurant has a traditional Turkish style. Customers can choose to sit at a table or traditional style on a cushion.

2. Farm

The Farm features a rotating menu with locally sourced, fresh ingredients to make for a meal worth savoring. They also feature local beers and spirits. The White Bianca pizza and the garlic fries are must-haves. Be sure to call ahead for a reservation, as Farm usually attracts a large crowd.

3. Mother Bear's Pizza

Arguably the best pizza in town, this classic college- town pizza shop has everything from tasty pizzas to thousands of signatures covering the walls and benches. Besides the pizza, their house salads sprinkled with goldfish are a crowd favorite.

4. Nick’s English Hut

This classic, English pub style bar has been famous for their burgers and beer since 1927. Nick’s is a very popular spot on game days. Crowd favorites include their Sink the Biz Fries and variety of Stromboli’s.

5. The Runcible Spoon

This cozy breakfast spot provides the perfect Saturday morning hangover cure. Their pancakes and biscuits and gravy are very popular amongst customers. They also serve a variety of savory homemade soups for dinner.

6. Janko’s Little Zagreb

Open since 1973, Janko’s Little Zagreb has provided some of the best fine dining in the Bloomington area. Their famous spicy meatball are a big hit. With a wide selection of wines and a perfect location in the heart of Bloomington, Janko’s Little Zagreb is a cant-miss.

7. 3 Amigos

With all the Mexican food you crave, paired with mouthwatering margaritas, 3 Amigos is must-have for locals. Their Fried Ice Cream and Fish Tacos are worth a try! PS- all IU students get 10% off orders over $10.

8. Ami

Ami is the local spot for inexpensive, fresh sushi. Located on 3rd Street, Ami is the perfect spot for a quick lunch in between classes or a dinner out with friends. Popular dishes include chef specials like “Super Bowl” sushi, “Lion King” rolls and the “Caterpillar.”

9. India Garden

For a local taste of India, head to India Garden on Fourth Street. Their wide variety of traditional Naan bread and unique condiments are worth trying. They have many vegan and vegetarian options. Also, their traditional Indian desserts like Kulfi and Gulab Jamun are both authentic and tasty.

10. Laughing Planet Café

This funky, local-grown café specialized in California-style burritos with fresh ingredients. Tried and true favorites are the Multi-Grain Veggie Burgers and homemade Hungarian Mushroom soup. The Laughing Planet Café showcases local art and features lots of bright colors.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
