Members Simon Lunche (lead vocals and primary writer), Frank Klopotowski (bass), Jerry Feist (keyboard), Isaac Roth (guitar), and drummers Paul Davis (in studio) and Elias Williams (live performances) worked together to make their first self-produced track, Just Another Evening, which turned out fantastic. I recently had a brief moment speak with them while they were on tour and the following is our interview.
Q: Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
A: "Biggest musical inspirations would be The Beatles (all of them), Jeff Buckley. All amazing songwriters. The Beatles were so creative in their recording practices as well."
Q: What do you hope to accomplish with your music?
A: "We hope to give a voice to all those people out there who have feelings that they don't feel comfortable expressing. We also want to help people to feel something, whether it be a feeling of freedom, sadness, relief, happiness. We hope to take our music to the world. We'd like as many people to experience it as possible."
Q: What is your creative process when you guys are putting music together?
A: "Simon is the songwriter, he writes all of the music and the lyrics. When he has come up with a basic concept he brings it to the other members of the band and tells them what kind of feel he wants to evoke, usually with very specific beats, baselines, and solos. Then we all tighten up the instrumentals as a group."
The Blondies are an exceptionally talented group and surely have the potential to make themselves a house hold name. Their music is a refreshing new sound with old school vibes and is definitely worth a listen.
