Five simple reasons why photography is truly a gift.

Photography is a reality check, a reminder, a capsule of memories; it is truly a blessing that we overlook. We live in a world that seems to have one pace and one pace only. It is fast and it is based off of the world that is not truly our reality. We are the generation of Social media; we pick out the brightest, most wonderful moments of our truly chaotic lives to morph how others view us. The following are just a few simple reasons why I truly adore and will always love photography.

1) Moments of true bliss can never be altered.

Focusing in on her smiling face, I press the button down and capture her innocents; this is why I love photography. This picture will never change; her eyes will always be this bright blue that is full of eagerness, her cherry lips will always be pushed up as laughter tumbles off her tongue. The arms that are wrapped around her won’t ever leave her; the smile of being a proud aunt won’t ever fall off the edges of this page. As we grow older and look back at our life, we can be reminded of the loving family and friends we are blessed to have.

2) Nature's true beauty is often overlooked; because we forget to actually look up.

I have fallen victim of being so consumed in what my friends are doing that I let what I am supposed to be doing or enjoying slip out of my grasp. The first time I realized my life was way too consumed with social media was when I had 5,000 friends on Facebook. I didn't know more than 480 of them; which is about how many friends I now have on my page. When I slowly removed myself from Social Media, is when I became more aware of my reality. I focused on a beauty that is deeper than someone's skin. I found beauty within the waves of the lake and how they faded into the shore as the sunset and clouds danced around above my head.

3) Life's first moments will be forever

One of my close friends had her daughter while in college, she still graduated, and is now an amazing mother to her beautiful daughter. I was lucky enough to do her first fall photos as a family; the love in this picture and every single one I took of them was overwhelming. There are just a couple of things you can't edit into pictures; they are the love in someone's eyes and smile. This is the love of a proud parent; this love will never change, and this picture is a simple reminder to them and their daughter of just that.

4) The beginning of a new chapter in life

When we were younger, we made time capsules to remind ourselves of what we were proud of. We made them when we closed one chapter and start writing the next. Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations are just a few of our normal chapter endings or beginnings. These moments are blessings, and we so consumed in the excitement of them, we miss out on certain parts. Photography lets those moments come to life, over and over again and help fill in tiny blanks. They act as tiny time capsules printed out on paper in bright ink, reminding us why we were so proud that day

5) Happiness, innocence, and growth

Happiness, innocence, and growth; also known as our everyday life experiences. They seem simple and the need to capture these moments seems ridiculous. Yet we do it every day, and we look back at them and feel a sense of joy. These moments can be as simple as, senior pictures that are fun and not strictly just for the yearbook. Or even simpler; it could be a child after swimming for hours on end, smiling because today has been a great day with their family. These days won't ever be the same; which is why photography is a blessing. They remind us of the simple days; the days we smiled way too much, the days we became a family, the day you realized your daughter or son is no longer a child, the day that new chapter begins.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
