My Teacher, My Protector, My Papi.

A Thank You To My Blessed Father
Miriam

Sometimes in life, we have people who fill in roles that they are not obligated to take. Yet, when they do it is like two puzzle pieces coming together and fitting perfectly. They build a connection with you so strong it was like it was always there, that they were always meant to take that place.

In my life, I have met that puzzle piece, it joined my life even before it began. This person is the world's greatest gift that I have. I swear they must know that I love them, appreciate them, that I am forever grateful to them.

Who else would give me a father's wisdom?

Who else would understand my frustration?

Who else would understand my passions?

My concerns and My fears?

You are not my father by blood yet you are him by the blessings above. You are my father through water and through the powers above.

It is because of you that I am able to have a relationship that, I have now realized I always wanted.

I am your pretty girl, your Miriam.

In my life, I have been influenced and guided by many. You are a primary example of a guide and a teacher.

A person who I can have deep conversations about the world, and its mystery's. You have become my teacher and I, your student. Yet, with all the wisdom, the affection you have bestowed on me I have done the same. Though I will continue learning from you maybe I can teach you more.

You have made me feel special and empowered.

When I speak, you don't speak to me like a child but a young adult who wants to share what's on her mind. Not many do so? They think because I am not their age, that my words mean nothing. That I should have no input. That I don't understand the world, that when I speak I am nothing but a child playing a grown adults game. But YOU take my words into consideration, you take my nonsense and give it meaning. You are nothing like them.

You are my uncle but more than that you are my Papi.

You are my father and you have soothed a part of my soul.

You are my Papi and I love you so much.

I am glad to call you my Papi and I know far into the future my children will know what it means to call you their grandpa.

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
