We all love food. Fact. If someone ever tells you that they don’t love food, they are lying to you. I mean what’s not to love? Not only is it absolutely delicious and satisfying, but it also gives you the energy to keep you going throughout the day. However, as much as we like food, sometimes it isn’t as easy to prepare as we wish. First off, I’m no Bobby Flay. Cooking fancy food isn’t one of my strong suits; I swear one time I burnt water. Sometimes buying those prepared meals can get expensive, and as much as I love food, I also live on a budget so I don’t want to spend my entire paycheck at Whole Foods. But my fellow food lovers, there is an answer to our prayers. It is called Tasty.
Those of you who have Facebook, which is probably all of you reading this, you have probably stumbled upon a video that your co-worker Kathy or your aunt Patty shared about “how to make lasagna in a slow-cooker." Naturally you would scroll past it thinking if it’s not a funny baby video, it is just a waste of my time. But, the next time one of those videos pop-up and it says it’s a Tasty video, watch it –– you won’t regret it! If you never seen one before, you’ll thank me for introducing it, and if you have seen one, you know I’m not lying.
Tasty is a Facebook page that only started last July and already has over 32,000,000 likes, and the likes just keep coming! The group also has a Twitter, Instagram, Vine and Pinterest if you prefer those social media sites better. However you view it, the outcome is always the same. Perfection. Tasty gives what they call “snack-sized” videos on easy recipes of delicious food that’ll make you close your eyes, learn back and whisper “yes.” Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, appetizers, any craving will be satisfied thanks to the wonderful people of Tasty.
The videos are simple, which makes them easy to follow, allowing you to pause and rewind making the cooking process go smoothly. The video will show the cook going step by step in the cooking process, but it doesn’t include their voice in the background, instead of an adult talking down to you like a little kid, you get to enjoy some upbeat music in the background. The recipes themselves are all fairly simple. They sometimes look and sound more complex then they really are. When you realize how easy it actually is to make some of these recipes, you’re going to wish you found Tasty a long time ago. Since the videos are so relaxed, baking your piece of cake becomes, literally, a piece of cake.
So besides being easy to follow, the recipes usually only include a small amount of ingredients and most of them you probably already have in your house. Most households have salt, pepper, eggs, flour, cream cheese, Nutella, hot sauce, etc. Before you know it, dinner is served faster than you expected –– and cheaper too.
Personally, I think watching the videos is half the fun. Then sharing the videos with friends saying, “Let’s make this this weekend” is even better! The food always looks so indulging, and even if I’m not in the mood to actually attempt the recipe, at least looking at it satisfies me a little. Mouthwatering cheesy buffalo chicken ring, the scrumptious taco egg rolls or the tasteful Nutella cream cheese turnovers are all enough to make you fall in love.
So for all of you out there that are only good at pouring cereal, think again. Tasty has made it quick, easy and affordable to make sweet, savory and delectable food that all can enjoy.
