Getting your hair done can be expensive, especially if you are someone who wants blonde hair but you're brunette (like me). I wanted to try to find a way to get the light hair I craved without having to go to the salon and pay $100 (or more). So I sat down and did some research.
Apparently, all it takes to get lighter hair is two simple ingredients: baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Couldn't I just buy straight-up bleach from Walgreens? Yes, I definitely could have. But I felt like using more 'home remedy' methods would be better for the health of my hair. I don't have facts to back that up, but I am pretty sure using a few ingredients you already have at home beats going to the store for products any day.
Now I know what you're thinking: trying to bleach your hair on a whim could be a risky move and you know what? I 100% agree with you. But this is what happens when you get bored with your hair and your mom isn't there to tell you no.
So I tried it out. Was it successful? Well, that depends on your definition of success. Why don't you watch for yourself
Did my hair turn out like I thought it would? I would say no. Is the result 10 times better than that useless lemon juice, hair-lightening-in-the-sun spray? Absolutely yes.
Let's all just be glad I didn't fry my hair off.
