Genesis 12 "The man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate."
Genesis 13 "Then the LORD God said to the woman, What is this you have done?" And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
When God accused Adam and Eve from eating the fruit from the tree, they immediately wanted to blame the serpent. but in the verse Adam and Eve both use the phrase " I ate." Blaming someone else for their mischievous action of not following Gods instructions to them. This verse shows us how we as humans even though we may know what the right thing to do is we instead make the mistake of doing what we want to do.
In this world if we don't listen to Gods path for us and instead we go the wrong direction, we can't blame others for what may come because of that decision. However, thankfully God is still there for us when we mess up. And it is our job to learn from those mistakes and then to get better at listening to him.
Although all of our actions and words are our own we can be influenced by others but it is on us for what we do and how we handle things in our everyday life. This is another reason why Jesus wants us to read his book every day and listen to him so he influences us more than the outside world.
Many times when we are held accountable for something that we don't want to blame ourselves for, we struggle with dealing with the truth of it. Because truth be told it really was our fault that brought us to what happened. I personally struggle with this because I don't want to face the truth that I messed up and that I made the decision. But to stay close with God and walk with him through your life we need to swallow our pride and accept what we have done so then we can ask for forgiveness and be fully honest with ourselves.
