Okay let’s cut the small talk: Marvel’s "Black Panther" trailer dropped two days ago. I have so many words for this movie, but the first word that comes to mind is epic! Friday night I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a link saying that the "Black Panther" trailer has released. I’m thinking to myself, “No this can’t be happening.” But when I clicked on the link, I learned it was actually the real deal. The trailer was only about a minute and a half, but I could already tell this was going to be amazing. I might be taking a risk by saying this (especially since the movie hasn’t officially come out yet), but "Black Panther" might be the next best super hero we get!
Now for a lot of people who know Marvel movies, we saw Black Panther’s introduction into the Marvel cinema world in Captain America: Civil War. When T’Challa witnesses his father (who is the king of Wakanda) killed right in front of him, not only must he step up to take his place, but he must also take up the mantle as the Black Panther as well. He teamed up with team Iron Man to bring down Winter Soldier because he thought he killed his father. That’s how he is introduced. But now that he has his own movie, we get to see more of his character. We actually get to see him be a king.
That’s what I’m most excited for about this movie. Yes we have seen him get in the Black Panther suit and kick some ass, but now get to see him step up and be a leader to his people. Since his father has died, T’Challa must face the benefits and the challenges that come with being the king of Wakanda. The short plot summary I’ve read for this movie was that an old foe of Wakanda (who is played by Machael B. Jordan) hears about then death of the former king and comes back to Wakanda to try and take over. T’challa has to try and lead his people to fight this foe with his special force task of women soldiers. Yeah I said it. Women soldiers! They look like they were about to whoop some ass. Plus Lupita Nyong’o looked fine as hell in that armor.
But yeah, the reason why I think this might go down in the books as one of Marvel’s best movies because it is so uniquely different. This is the first super hero movie ever to have a predominately black cast. Plus the setting of Wakanda is so futuristic but it still embodies about of African culture in it as well. Plus the cast looks amazing! Look, say what you want, but I bet everything in my pocket that "Black Panther" is going to be a blockbuster hit. I know I’ll be seeing it in my Black Panther shirt. Peace.
