Aside from the series 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and renounced reviews from critics everywhere, the show engages the audience with a reality check on what society could become in the future.

A modern version of the Twilight Zone, Black Mirror challenges all of our insecurities about the growth in technology. The more we rely on technology and social media for news, intellect and happiness, the more we have to fear for our technologically growing future. Each episode of the series has its own narrative, creating the ability to touch on a vast variety of topics regarding modern society. The episodes range from eternal punishment in ways that you could not imagine, to something as bizarre as being able to control our lives with a remote, rewinding to good times and bad—the ability to never forget something that haunts you, or the ability to revisit a relationship that you cannot get over. These types of circumstances appeal to the audience so intensely because they are so foreseeable.

The latest season was just released on October 21st, 2016 and the first episode of the season encompasses a scenario where everyone walks around with a smartphone, rating one another on a 1 to 5 scale, with 5 being the highest score. Each person has their own rating and the rating system is similar to what would happen if you were to mash up your Facebook likes with your credit score. If your rating is high, you have a better chance of getting an apartment, relationship and even employment, but without a top-notch score, you are basically screwed. The show calls into question the falseness of social media, creating a too close for comfort plot where the only happiness that is truly important is the happiness you display on the outside. Much like social media today, such as Facebook or Instagram, where people are posting the best fragments of life, none of which is real in entirety. Nevertheless, this series will draw you in, scare the sh** out of you and possibly make you question the way our society is constructed, so sit down and enjoy your next Netflix binge, there are three equally great seasons awaiting your viewing.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
