The bottom line: WHITE lives are not oppressed.
White people are not being killed unnecessarily by members of the police force.
Throughout the history of our young nation, African Americans have been treated unequally and unfairly, like animals, as if they weren't human beings. In my opinion, a WHITE WOMAN'S opinion, I believe the Black Lives Matter Movement is long overdue.
No matter what is being fed to us through the media and politicians, racism is not dead. The ruthless and unjust killing of George Floyd showed the American people and the world this fact. This is unacceptable. We are supposed to be the greatest nation in the world. America is supposed to represent the land of the free and the brave, regardless of the color of our skin. Right now, I believe we are failing as being the example, as being leaders to our brothers and sisters abroad.
As the great Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." We are in the 21st century. How are we still living in these racially-dated times?
We are all apart of one race: the human race. No person can control the pigment that is found in their skin. People do not deserved to be persecuted and discriminated against due to these circumstances that are unchangeable. We are born as we are, as people in search of the same ideals: "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Members of the Black Lives Matter Movement: Stay strong. We are with you, and don't stop fighting until equality and justice is served.
