"I remember when the attack in Paris happened, and then Belgium happened, and then Turkey, and then Orlando, and then Philando, and Alton, and then Dallas." Will.I.Am speaking about the recent tragedies.
Back in September, The Black Eyed Peas released a remake of their classic 2003 hit "Where is the Love?" This time, they came back strong with a heart pounding song that features the world. Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dog, A$AP Rocky, Usher, DJ Khaled, Wiz Khalifa, Jaden Smith, Mary J. Blige, Andra Day, Ty Dolla $ign, French Montana, Diddy, Kris Jenner, and many more are all featured in the video. It also highlights photos taken from events that have scared the world and a children's chorus at the end.
With all of the negativity in the world, we needed this song to come back. We are a world that is allowing tragedies to take over and our reactions are not correct. Instead of coming together to stop this horrible epidemic, we are spreading apart and fighting against each other. This must come to an end and we need to reunite as one country, one world.
All lives matter. Enough of one life matters more than the other. EVERYONE matters! How is putting one life before the other matter more? We deserve to live our life until it is our proper time to go. As said in the video, love is powerful. If you show one person love, it can change their life forever.
Many people have reacted to the video by saying that they like the original better or that it has ruined the original. In my eyes, this is just what we need. While watching the video, it reminded me of the 2010 remake of "We Are The World" with various singers singing about coming together to help Haiti. Where is that unity now? We need to create that unity again and come together as one to fill the gap that we have made to separate ourselves.
America, it is time to end the hatred, violence, racism, terrorism, everything. It is time to put an end to what has caused the world to go into an endless cycle of pain and hurt. This is OUR world. Our world should be filled with love, unity, care, and kindness. But this can not be done without people making a movement. Until that movement happens, I will be asking the same question as everyone else; Where is the Love?
