Sometimes buying makeup is so difficult us black women. But as you read this article, there is hope. No deep research needed, all of the things you need are all on this article. But really though, let's begin.

1. Brows

Anastasia Brow Whiz

www.sephora.com

First off, I would start with brows because moisturizing products and primers can cause the eyebrow product to break up and not show up. But the Anastasia Brow Whiz is a great product for beginners (or you can use the NYX Micro Brow Pencil as a cheaper option).

2. Concealer

NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop Concealer

target.scene7.com

Then you need a concealer that will conceal your brows, undereye bags, dark circles, and other imperfections. The good thing about this concealer is that it comes in so many shades in a variety of undertones.

3. Eyeshadow Primer

Milani Eyeshadow Primer

target.scene7.com

Milani Eyeshadow Primer is one of the best eyeshadow primers that I've used, doing a great job with helping the eyeshadow stick.

4. Eyeshadow

Juvia's Place Masquerade Palette

cdn.shopify.com

This is a perfect eyeshadow palette because it has shades perfect for a natural look and also shades for a colorful look. Also, jewel toned colors are perfect on women of color and thus this being a perfect palette.

5. Eyeliner

Elf Intense Ink Eyeliner

www.elfcosmetics.com

This $3 option is so easy for beginners with a pigmented black shade that stays on all day!

6. Lashes

Eyelure Silk Effect Lashes

For beginners, I would start off with these Eyelure lashes. This is not your ordinary drugstore lash. These lashes will change your eye look for the better.

7. Mascara

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

i5.walmartimages.com

If you're not a fan of lashes, then this mascara is your best bet. This mascara is great on its own, taking your lashes to new heights.

8. Face Primer

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

i5.walmartimages.com

This is my personal favorite primer from Maybelline as it suits all skin types. It is smooth on the skin and helps hold everything together.

9. Foundation

NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop Foundation

target.scene7.com

For foundation, the NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop Foundation is a popular option this year as it comes in 45 shades. There is a good variety for everyone, and suitable for all skin types.

10. Powder

Ben Nye Powder

cdn.shopify.com

I highly recommend buying a banana shade (or a yellow undertone) powder. If you're not feeling the yellow shade, luckily the Ben Nye brand has a wide range of shades to complement your skin tone.

11. Bronzer

target.scene7.com

I think picking up a bronzer is best for beginners because it adds color and vibrancy to the face. This bronzer palette has four different shade to choose and they're all beautiful.

12. Highlight

Makeup Revolution Jelly Highlighter

www.revolutionbeauty.com

Gold highlighters look great on women of color as they are kissed by the sun. This one is pigmented, like crazy pigmented. Ultimately, this will last all day.

13. Lip Liner

NYX Lip Liner

i5.walmartimages.com

I start my usual lip look with a brown lip liner. This is a color that needs to be in every women of color's makeup collection as it blends with unworkable lip colors to make them workable.

14. Lip Gloss

NYX Butter Gloss

images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com

Finding a brown lipgloss will help compliment the skin along with the dark brown lip liner.

15. Finishing Spray

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

www.mariobadescu.com

Last but not least, finish up your makeup look with my ALL time favorite makeup spray as it puts everything together while taking care of your skin.

Whew, now that's a makeup tutorial. Let my ladies with melanin shine in 2019.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
