Why birthday celebrations are still important no matter how old you get.

Do you recall as a child when your parents threw you that super-man or bat-man themed birthday party? It was the party of your dreams. They brought a bouncing-castle, told you to invite all of your friends and allowed you to blow out the candles on your dream cake. Parents put on birthday parties for their children because it is something they will never forget. Birthday parties for kids are also very important because they love entertainment. As kids, birthday parties were the best of times. As we get older, birthday celebrations tend to decrease for us. You went from counting down the days to your birthday to realizing that your birthday is tomorrow and not caring about it at all.

Birthday celebrations can make anyone happy no matter how old they are. People tend to forget that throwing a get together for someone's birthday can mean a lot to them these days. Think about your close friends and the lives they lead. Everyone is so busy but what if we took the time out to plan something for a friend's birthday if we know it's coming up? It may seem corny or weird but the truth is, that person will never forget it.

The older you get, you tend to hear less "Happy Birthday's" verbally coming your way. Sometimes people forget and it's weird being the birthday guy/gal having to remind other people that it is your birthday. This is another reason why someone should always take the time out to plan something. It can be a fellow co-worker that you chatted with from time to time. You can surprise them with a birthday celebration during lunch break. These small celebrations can remind people that life is worth living and that we are always blessed to see another year of life.

Birthday celebrations can take place anywhere. A simple restaurant, lake or park are perfect places to take time out and remind people that they matter, especially since they are 1 year wiser. Encouragement and laughs are very important on birthdays. This fellowship is sometimes taken for granted because people expect to always see their birthday. The reality is you never know when it will be your last birthday. So we should always take the time to plan something, small or big for the people we love. After all, everyone deserves some kind of attention when their birthday comes around. We must never forget to celebrate ourselves because we are unique and special.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
