Birthday Blessings To My Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Birthday Blessings To My Mom!
Toyai Alexander

On November 9th, the most influential person in my life makes a year younger. This year is the first year that I won't be able to celebrate with her on actual birthday, but I can still write her birthday blessings from a far.

Dear Mom,

First off quick question, how do you stay looking so fresh and young at the age of 47? I need to know so I can get on your level! Everything that I know is thanks to you. You are my stylist, nurse, guidance counselor, chef, workout buddy, best girlfriend, shopping buddy, accountant, and photographer, but most of all, you're my mom. You are the reason why I aim higher as I continue this journey for my undergraduate degree. You keep me focused on my goals and continuously give me more support than most of my bras and I can't thank you enough for it.

I pray that you not only have a great birthday, but a great 47th year full of adventure, love, fortune, spiritual growth, and good, quality TV shows to binge watch. I pray that you are treated like the queen you are. I pray that you take the best shopping spree and treat yo' self to some nice things. I pray that everything goes your way and that you receive all the blessings that God has for you. I love you so much!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Love,

Your Rice Crispy

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
