I am a person that definitely enjoys great movies and television, but unfortunately I don't watch a ton of it. I mostly stick to watching my sports debate shows throughout the day, but I was still able to create a list of shows and movies that I've delved into the last 30 days. Here we go.
Dave
This is a brand new show on FX featuring Dave Burd, better known as Lil Dicky. The show is based off true events in Dave's life as he shows the journey of an aspiring white, comedic rapper in his late 20's trying to find his niche in the hip-hop world. This comedy features numerous popular rap artist from YG to Macklemore. The show is lighthearted, while still hitting on issues in today's society. Definitely one of my favorites right now.
Contagion
Had to recently check out this 2011 blockbuster as the world goes through a very similar situation. This movies focuses on a virus that ravages the whole world, sending everyone into madness and fear. A lot of parallels can be drawn between what is happening now and what happens in the movie. Definitely recommend if you are cynical like me, and aren't afraid to see the worst possible scenario of the situation we are currently in.
Power
One of my favorite shows ever. It was the final season of this incredible show and the ending did not leave me empty like Game of Thrones. The series concluded the journey in a way that felt fitting for each character's story arc as well as the arc for the overall show. The series ended with me having all my questions answered - the show thankfully didn't leave everyone on a cliffhanger. A must watch show if you like drugs and crime.
Rick and Morty
This may seem like a cop-out answer, but I can't help it. I'll watch this show at least once a week because I DO NOT CARE. The show is so funny, witty, and creative. Every time I re-watch it I catch something that I might have missed before or maybe a joke lands that previously went over my head. I can't get enough of Rick and Morty and I can't wait for more episodes.
Dragon Ball Super
Last on my list, but certainly not least is the king of all anime. The Dragon Ball franchise has been around since the 80's and is still going strong today. The new series has introduced new characters and story lines, while still keeping the same main characters from the original shows. Watching this new series instantly brings me back to my childhood - I catch myself screaming along with the characters attempting to go 'Super Saiyan.' I will never be too old to turn this one on.
