In college, I have binged watched many television shows, especially on Netflix. I have watched all 13 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, 11 seasons of Supernatural and every season of Gilmore Girls. When it comes to a television show that I find interesting, I will watch that show like crazy. I will go three to five hours a day watching each show. This summer, I have been working full time trying to earn enough money to pay off rent and bills, so I haven't had the opportunity to binge watch a new television show. I've started new shows like Jane the Virgin, Stranger Things, and The Handmaids Tale but haven't binge-watched them.
The one show that I have recently started to watch for about three to four episodes a day has been Game of Thrones. When I first heard about the show a few years ago, I was not intrigued by it. It didn't catch my attention even though all my friends were talking about how great the show was. It wasn't until I moved in with my roommates, who are all into the show, that I started watching Game of Thrones.
It all started when my two roommates Matt and Padric started re-watching the show and introduced it to my other two roommates Kat and Chris, who then introduced it to me. We are all at different points in the series, but the episodes that I have seen thus far caught my attention, so I decided to start watching from season one.
A bit of context: I began watching from season six and the premiere of season seven. Watching these few episodes sparked my interest because I wanted to know how the show had evolved into what it is. Spoilers were given to me and I sort of knew a few things while watching season one. In the last few days, I have been able to watch 8 episodes of season 1, and it has been very interesting.
For those who haven't seen it yet, I definitely recommend watching the show. If you like major plot twists and can handle character deaths left and right, then this is the show for you. I don't want to give any spoilers to those who haven't seen it but the level of artistry that Game of Thrones is has blown my mind.
I am quite excited to see how long it will take me to watch all six complete seasons. I am betting on at least 3 weeks to finish the series and get caught up with season 7. If I binge-watched all of Grey's Anatomy in less than 2 months, then I can finish this show in a few weeks. After all, I did place a bet with my roommates that I would finish the series before the end of summer, which is exactly one month away. All I have to say is "Challenge accepted."
