7 Reasons You Should Be A Proud Member Of The BillsMafia

People often ask “How do I join #BillsMafia?” Our response has always been the same: “Do you bleed red, white, and blue? Eat, sleep, and breathe Bills? Then you’re already in.”

Every NFL team has their fanbase. Patriots fans are known for supporting cheaters and being quite rude to visiting teams (cheaters never truly win you guys), Steelers fans have that little yellow rag that they spin around while simultaneously wiping their nose with it, and the Cowboys fans...well that's just a melting pot of bandwagoners.

But what about the Buffalo Bills fans? We are such a FAMbase that we have our own nickname...#BillsMafia! Trust me when I say this is a very eccentric group of amazing individuals each with their own special talents. Though our Fambase has been tarnished with misconceptions, here is why you should be proud to be apart of #BillsMafia (shout out to Del, Leslie, and Bre for being amazing and creating this on accident!)

1. We are more than just a fanbase.

BillsMafia is more than just showing up to games, home and away, cheering on the good ol' Buffalo Bills. We also try to help out the communities and each other in the process! Charities? Yeah we donate to those! Do your fans do that?

2. We are a family...a FAMbase!

We are always there for each other, whether it's helping each other out with a problem or just giving tickets we won't use to fans that would really enjoy their first ever Bills game! I've seen a lot of this on the Billsmafia facebook and it makes me so proud! Way to go guys!

3. We stick together through the good and the bad.

Let's be honest here..we are on a 16 year playoff drought with a possible 17 year if we don't get our act together. We are fans for more than the Superbowl rings (looking at you Patriot and Cowboys fans!) and we will be around for many more years to come without filling out a bandwagon application for another team.

4. We are open with our opinions and views without being rude to players.

Yeah.. we get frustrated. Our kicker isn't the best. Our QB is truly hit or miss. We have an exceptional running back (shout out to you McCoy. Love your work!) and our WR is made of glass. I think that justifies our frustrations. We voice our opinions without attacking our players and that's something a lot of you can't say!

5. PINTO RON. ENOUGH SAID!

Spoiler alert: Ron is not his first name. He is the most well known tailgater around and naturally he's a Bills fan!

6. We truly bleed Red, White, and Blue! #MERICA

I mean COME ON! Why are the Cowboys "America's Team"?! We are actually RED WHITE AND BLUE and we are proud of it. Ask any mafia member, they bleed those colors proudly!

7. The FAMbase turns into FAMily.

I have made so many new friends from all over the country thanks to the BillsMafia. Whenever I visit Buffalo I know that I will have a friend..or 15,000+ that I can hang out with!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
