The Billboard Music Awards are one of the biggest nights in the music industry. Airing live on May 20th on NBC, the nominations were just announced on April 17th on the Today Show by singer Khalid. Some of the 57 categories of music include Top New Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist.

Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars are the top runners; each nominated for 15 BBMA’s. Cardi B has recently been dominating the industry, dropping her album “Invasion of Privacy” which earned her the title of the 5th female rapper with a number 1 album. Cardi and Justin Bieber are tied with 8 nominations, and Bieber’s partners in “Despacito” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee have been up for 7 each.

A veteran of the Billboard charts, Kelly Clarkson was announced as the host of the 2018 BBMAs; airing at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Clarkson has never hosted an award show before, but there’s no question she will rise to the occasion.

The only two fan-voted categories this year are the Billboard Chart Achievement Award and Top Social Artist, which will be open for the public to vote in the upcoming weeks. How these artists are nominated are based on the connection they have with their fans through their music. This includes streaming, album sales, radio play, touring, and social engagement which are tracked by Billboard.

No matter which kind of music you listen to, this award show will be full of entertainment in all genres. Some of the other nominees include Post Malone, Sam Hunt, Halsey, U2, BTS, and so many more. The three-hour telecast will feature this year’s hottest musical acts, biggest performances, unexpected collaborations, buzzworthy pop culture moments, and will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
