An Open Thank You Letter To My Grandparents

I can never thank you two enough.

If you're like me, there are people in your family that you are closest to. If you're lucky like I am, two of them are your grandparents. With the holiday season quickly approaching, it is the time to think about what we are all thankful for. So, I got thinking about the people who are in my life that matter most, but don't always get recognized for all that they do. My grandparents are two of those people. While it might not be your grandparents, I'm sure you have someone in your life that you can thank this holiday season.

Throughout the years, my grandparents have been a very important part of my life. They have taught me lessons, been supportive and have been big role models. They have never stopped showing their love and continually inspire me. So, for that, I will thank them.

Thank you for our weekly phone calls. There is nothing I look forward to more than our talks. Whether it is to chat about life and everything in-between or just to briefly catch up, our conversations always brighten my days.

Thank you for showing me strength. From cancer to other hard times, thank you for showing me not to give up and that everything will be okay. Your perseverance and strength has given me so much hope and a reason to always remain positive.

Thank you for the laughs. I can never not smile when I am with you both.

Thank you for being there through the hard times. Some things have not been easy... thank you for being fiercely loyal.

Thank you for showing me what true love is. I'll never get tired of hearing about the love story you two share.

Thank you for teaching me to always speak my mind. You both have taught me not to be afraid to talk about how I feel.

Thank you for helping me realize my self-worth. No explanation necessary.

Thank you for being two of my biggest fans. Whether it was my dream to be a rockstar when I was little to now, thank you for always being there to cheer me on and encourage me.

Thank you for believing in me. Your belief in me is one of the greatest things I could ever ask for.

Thank you for sharing our family history with me. I will never get tired of learning about our family's heritage and your history yourselves.

Thank you for your unconditional love. I don't know what I would do without it.

Thank you for raising the best momma a girl could ask for. God only knows what I would do without her.

Thank you for always making me feel appreciated. I appreciate you both more than you know.

Thank you for all of the memories. I cannot wait to make more of them.

Thank you for letting me be myself. I'm a goofball. Thank you for loving me anyways.

Thank you for the stellar genetics. I hope I look like my grandmother when I'm her age.

Thank you for always being down to fix something. My grandfather has always been there to fix a door, shelf, frame, fence or anything in-between.

Thank you for teaching me about art at a young age. Can I please have some of your collection? Learning about Monet and Picasso at the young age of four was pretty rad. And don't get me started on Georgia O' Keeffe.

Thank you for being so involved in my life. Especially with the distance.

Thank you for everything. I can never thank you enough.

Love you both so much.

Sincerely,

Me.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
