The Michigan State University Spartans came off a tough loss to the Arizona State University Sun Devils in the September 8 game. The final score was 16-13 after the Sun Devils' Brandon Ruiz kicked a 28-yard field goal in the last quarter, mere seconds from the end of the game. Following the game, the Spartans had a bye week, but they're preparing to open the conference game against Indiana University on September 22.
The Spartans' defeat against the Sun Devils came after the loss of three key players: starting left guard David Beedle, punter Jake Hartbarger and running back LJ Scott. The Spartans are still without key players, including cornerback Josiah Scott; back-up quarterback Rocky Lombardi will take over the punting duties for the team, which I think is an interesting call on Dantonio's part.
The spread is five points in favor of MSU, but with the miscommunication between the sidelines, this game could be a close one. The Hoosiers have sophomore quarterback Peyton Ramsey, who threw 20-27 for 173 yards last week against Indiana's win over Ball State University. On the ground, freshman Stevie Scott had 18 carries for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns while senior Luke Timian had five receptions for fifty-six yards in the air last week.
I predict the game between the Spartans and Hoosiers to be a close won, with MSU taking the win 28-24.
Go green.
