'Big Mouth' Review: The Truth Exposed

I have never watched a show that is so raunchy, immature, inappropriate, and yet SO ACCURATE. I love it.

As much as some of us hate to admit it, Netflix's "Big Mouth" exposes the truth of what is going through every adolescent's mind, at least what our generation was going through.

The reason why we love this series, binge-watching the whole season in a day, is because we get to relive our childhood through the episodes. "Big Mouth" challenges all the things we were not supposed to talk about in middle school, yet what we were all thinking.

The show is actually incredible for somehow understanding what it is like to be going through puberty and how awfully amazing it is. Each character explores a different part of growing up and attempts to make sense of all the new emotions you are going through at that time. Middle school can be tough, and everyone is changing, some faster than others. Everyone is finding out about their sexuality, which is another topic that "Big Mouth" covers in a way I have never seen before.

In the show, there are several characters that struggle with identifying their sexuality. Each character who struggles with this shares their emotional experiences, making every child who also feels that way feel like they're not alone, which is so crucial. It also touches on the topic of feminism and especially how boys and girls come into this.

Jessie, the leading feminist character, voices her opinions on how women are treated unfairly. The fact that a middle-schooler is talking about this speaks volumes. This is also a part of growing into womanhood, which is very confusing! No one has answers for how you are supposed to act and feel in this trivial time in your life, but "Big Mouth" makes sense of it all.

"Big Mouth" provides adolescents with the feeling that they aren't as weird as they think. The things they are experiencing are more normal than they think for their age, and everyone is feeling them.

Not to mention it also makes our generation feel better about what we were feeling back then. I realized through conversations with friends that "Big Mouth" captures the truth and exposes all of us. All we had when we were younger were the boring sex-ed videos; you all know what I'm talking about.

The fact that kids today have access to a show that talks like them, acts like them, and experiences puberty with them is amazing. It's something we should not take for granted.

Overall, I recommend everyone watch "Big Mouth." It will change your perspective on not only the world around you but yourself as well.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
