The Big Deal About Tiny Houses
Tiny House Swoon

In the past year around America, people have seemed to fall in love with the idea of tiny houses. What exactly is a tiny house? And why are people dying to have one of their own?

Just on HGTV itself, multiple television programs have emerged solely on tiny houses, and even luxury tiny houses. I honestly didn't understand why people suddenly became so in love with these little rectangles with such little living space, and the reasons are quite interesting.

1. People are sick of being In debt.

The matter of the fact is, most of Americans are somewhat in debt, including our federal government. The money people spend just to put a down payment on a house is enormous. And next to that, people are paying off student loans, trying to raise kids, and paying insurance bills and more. The expenses are endless, and American people are tired of losing all their money to house payments and property taxes that they could be spending on much more worthy activities such as travel or experiences.

2. People are choosing experiences over things.

In the past couple of years in America, It has seemed like so many new "objects" have been targets of peoples money: Go Pros, hover boards, and more. People are getting sick of it. People are tired of having piles of things at their homes; they want more. People are leaving things behind for experiences. Unforgettable experiences that will last a lifetime. Things will eventually run out, but experiences will stay in our minds forever.

3. They're cute.

Let's face it, although tiny houses have all the logistical perks, they are quite the cute package. From the friendly porch swings and cute little kitchens, they are adorable. Instead of people having large living rooms, people are settling for a much smaller living space to have a larger outdoor space anywhere they take their tiny house.

4. People want to travel.

In my opinion, traveling is becoming more popular now than it ever has been. It is becoming more accessible, cheaper, and enjoyable. However, it is difficult to travel when you have a load of a house payment and two cars to pay off. Instead of spending money on hotels, plane flights, and all of these extra expenses, tiny houses make it easy. Tiny houses are a way people can travel without the expenses stacking up. Traveling is becoming more accessible for all ages, and people are eager to go out and experience the growing world more than ever.

To sum it up, people want to travel, and they want to do it for less. Tiny houses are cute, practical, and budget friendly. As the world becomes more advanced and materialistic, tiny houses allow people to take a step back. They allow people to ground themselves in experiences and nature instead of technology and big screens. Which is a nice change, for most of us.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
