My Big Brother

Growing up as the youngest of three kids wasn't the easiest thing to do. Some seem to think being the youngest means you're the baby and everything is easy for you. I had a tough, mean brother I had to grow up with. Even though he was rough and rowdy he was the greatest brother I could have ever wanted!

No matter the arguments or fights we'd always get right back to playing together or hanging out. Most may think because we were siblings but really because we were friends too. There was nothing he wouldn't do for me and still to this day we're as close as we've ever been. Make no mistake, he was the only one allowed to pick on me. If anyone ever tries to mess with me he's there in a split second. Always sticking up for me is still one of his strong suits.

Now that we have grown up things aren't really any different. We still have our own lives of course! If I need him he is there no matter the time or day. My closest friend I couldn't live without. He beats any girlfriends I could ever have! A siblings bond can withstand anything! The fights and laughs just make really great memories! I thank God I have a brother like mine.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
