In week six, the Red River Rivalry takes center stage. Does Texas pull another upset or will Oklahoma get revenge?
Oklahoma State 45, Iowa State 23 – The Cowboys stomp all over the Cyclones in a game that is never in doubt. Mason Rudolph throws for 4 touchdowns, including 2 to running back Barry Sanders Jr. Iowa State struggles to get going on offense until it is far too late, scoring 13 of their 23 points in the fourth quarter while Mike Gundy pulls his starters.
TCU 56, Kansas 17 – After winning the past two meetings by a combined 10 points, TCU blasts the Jayhawks. Jumping out to a 28-0 lead, the Horned Frogs explode offensively and never look back. Turpin gathers up 400 all-purpose yards while Gary Patterson’s defense pitches a first half shutout.
Kansas State 31, Texas Tech 23 – Desperate for a win, Bill Snyder uses some of his magic and coaches a fantastic game at home. The Wildcats put an end to Tech’s undefeated season by pounding the rock up the middle and playing physical defense.
Oklahoma 37, Texas 20 – Last year, the Longhorns shocked the college football world and got a win that saved Charlie Strong’s job. Not this time. The Sooners, led by Mayfield and Perine, attack the Texas defense relentlessly. Mayfield throws for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Perine churns up 160 yards and scores twice as well. A pick-six at the end of the game is nothing more than salt-in-the-wound for Texas, who heads back to Austin with a losing record.
