It's back, and it's infecting more people than ever before. Innocent lives are being over taken by this infatuating illness. You never really think you could become a victim until it happens to you. Most people try to fight it, until it becomes too much and they can't handle it anymore. No, I'm not talking about the flu or the popular college campus plague of mono, I'm talking about Bieber Fever.
Now, now,I know what you're thinking. Justin Bieber is a douchebag. He wears skinny jeans and really, really long t-shirts for God knows what reason. He gets in trouble with the law for reasons from vandalism to drunk and reckless driving. But let's be honest with ourselves people, have you seen him lately?!
Please hold in your screams. I know, he's f**king hot. While many of us have been greatly affected by the fever since his most recent album came out, it hasn't been this way forever. Let's rewind a little.
2009: After being discovered on YouTube, Justin Bieber released his first album My World. It quickly took off and his fan base was growing, considering the record went platinum. Also take note: this was the era of his infamous hair flow/flip. We all highkey wanted to be the girl in the "One Time" music video.
2011: Justin has finished his first world tour. With a second album titled My World 2.0, he has also released the most watched (and disliked) video on YouTube for his single "Baby" that featured Ludacris. This is also the year he cut his hair. Many girls cried and probably screamed, little did they know this would be the best decision he had ever made (I mean look at him now).
2013: Bieber starts to become the most disliked adolescent in the eyes of us and our parents, as he was starting fights with paparazzi, recklessly driving and saying "Anne Frank would have been a Belieber." The antics didn't end there: a video was released of him peeing in a public bucket while saying "f**k Bill Clinton." He was also arrested for a DUI, vandalized his neighbor's house with eggs, and the most tragic... abandoned his pet monkey at German zoo. How dare you, Justin.
We all thought we could never come back from this. I mean seriously, people wrote a petition to get him deported back to Canada. All signs led to a downward spiral that would probably land Justin on the next season of Celebrity Rehab. Like myself, many Beliebers were fed up and we moved on (probably to One Direction).
2015: Justin was a good sport during his Comedy Central Roast, which is a good thing considering he asked to be roasted. This was definitely a public way to come out and apologize for how much of an actual mess he has been, and we all got a laugh out of it. Then to mess with our brains a little more, he lowkey released a single with Jack Ü. We all tried to pretend we didn't like it but that didn't work; it was catchy as hell.
Releasing a couple singles from his album Purpose definitely pulled us in. Good move Justin, good move. The release of "What Do You Mean?" practically made the female population pass out. Then came the music video... I don't really need to say anything else. Just go watch it.
His singles "Sorry" and "I'll Show You" followed and we were clearly not disappointed. On November 13, 2015 Justin released his fourth album, titled Purpose. Let's be honest, we have not been well since.
Bieber Week on The Ellen Show, late night show performances, and acoustic versions of his new hits have given us more reason to come down with the illness. Within the first week of release, Bieber's album hit a new record of 205 million global streams on Spotify. He's at the #1 spot on The Billboard Artist 100 chart and we don't see him moving anytime soon.
There are some of us who gladly admit we are suffering from this disease. If you're not ready to admit it that's okay, but you really aren't fooling anyone. Deep down we can all relate to this tiny child.
When it comes to a cure, soup and rest definitely won't help. Antibiotics won't even do the trick. The only cure for this crippling disease is simple... more Bieber.
