5 Reasons Bid Day Is The Best Day

Before joining a sorority myself, I remember seeing bid day pictures of girls all over the internet completely decked out in glitter, face paint and adorable t-shirts. I always wondered why exactly these girls did those things, and it wasn't until I joined a sorority myself that I realized why bid day really is the best day. People always look so happy on bid day, and I just really wanted to be a part of it. After experiencing two years worth of bid days now, I thought it would be a good idea to share my reasons for why I think bid day is the best day:

1. GLITTER

I cannot stress enough how happy glitter makes me. I would come to class every day decked out in glitter if I could. On bid day, everyone is covered in glitter and there is tons of it. My bedroom floor is going to be covered in glitter for at least a week after this year's bid day festivities, and I'm not even mad about it.

2. Face Paint

It's not every day that you get to paint your friend's faces, so on bid day, you have to take full advantage of it.

3. Matching Outfits

First of all, cute T-shirts make me happy anyway, but the fact that you get to wear cute matching shirts with all of your sisters makes it even better.

4. Fun Themes

No matter what the theme is, you have to go all out for bid day. It's so fun getting to make cute accessories and getting all dressed up for the most exciting day of the year.

And finally, after tons of sleepless nights, hard work and anticipation...

5. Getting To Meet All Of Your New Sisters!

The most exciting element of all is getting to meet your new sisters and showing them what your organization is all about. Bid day is all about making these women feel welcome in your chapter and welcoming them in with open arms. It makes me so happy to be able to meet new people that share the same values and goals as I do, and I cannot wait to get to know them all better.

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

grateful heart

For the past few months, I have not been my usual happy-go-lucky-self for a number of reasons, but one thing that has been helping me is to think about all of the little things in my life that I am thankful for. I know this might seem really cliché, but it is so true. I cannot stress enough how much better I feel when I think about all the great people and privileges I have in my life. It makes all of the insignificant things that I am stressing about or worrying about in my head seem not nearly as bad. I have decided to make a list of 26 things (out of many more) in my life that I am especially thankful for.
