Bid Day As Told By Friends

Bid day is such a wonderful thing. New members, food, picture taking, and so much more. My bid day was today, so as I'm writing this I'm getting so excited about how amazing today went. Bid day is one of the most exciting times for the chapter and the amount of work that goes into it is insane. Because bid day is so amazing, and the TV show Friends is equally as amazing, I decided to put the two together to lay down the basics of bid day.

1. You start by singing the new members in, holding props and dressing for the theme.

2. Your whole chapter is WAY too excited to have new members in the house that you can't contain yourself.

3. You're all helping each other look good because there are SO many picture opportunities.

4. Giving house tours to the new members like...

5. When there is so much food that it's all you can think about.

6. The new members are on their way to the house...

7. But then you force yourself to remember this is fun and everything is going to go as planned.

8. At first the new members don't know how to act, but once they see you so excited they get super excited too.

9. When they say "there's extra food" once bid day is over.

10. Then this is you after...

11. Not knowing how to talk to a new member because you want to impress her but you end up being weird.

12. When you already love the new members so much that you feel like you're they're school mom.

13. When you love your bid day theme so much and go way too hard but so does everyone else so it doesn't matter.

14. When the music is blasting and you can't help to dance to throwback songs with your favorite people (a.k.a. your sisters).

15. When you literally do everything you can to impress the new members and end up embarrassing yourself.

16. At the end of bid day, after a day filled with singing, food, picture taking, mingling, dancing, and more, you're so exhausted and end up looking like this.

Being in a sorority is so amazing, and bid day is just one of those amazing things that you get to be a part of when you join a chapter. It's the thing that brings a long but fun week or two of recruitment to a close, and it's the best celebration for your chapter and for the new members. I can't stress enough how much you should appreciate everything that goes into making bid day as amazing as it is, because the behind the scenes work is way more than you can imagine. I give major props to anyone who has ever planned a bid day. I hope that all of the Friends and bid day lovers out there were just as inspired by this as I was.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
