As college students, and even beyond our college years, we all experience that overwhelming amount of stress. It seems to build up until one day you wake up and feel like everything needs to happen at once.

No matter how fast you check off items on your to-do list, it just never feels like you are accomplishing anything. That feeling of victory when you complete something (no matter how small) never comes because you are focused on the dozen other items that follow. It can leave you feeling exhausted.

It is times like these when it is important to stop for a moment and take a deep breath. If you are anything like me, sometimes just reading a quote/affirmation can make you feel better. Here are a list of five bible quotes for when you feel stressed out.

Set one as the lock screen on your phone, print it out/write it down and tape it somewhere you will see it, or even memorize it! You never know when you will need a little reminder that God is there for you!

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know well the plans I have in mind for you... plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope." -Jeremiah 29:11, The New American Bible

It can be hard to remember that God is always one step ahead of us. He knows what comes along further down the path, and has it all figured out. Remember that He is on your side. Every challenge you face is only getting you one step closer to where you are supposed to be.

Philippians 4:6

"Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God." -Philippians 4:6, The New American Bible

Starting to feel overwhelmed? Take a few minutes and say a prayer. Give all your worries to Him, and He will take care of everything. God already knows how you feel, so sometimes saying it out loud or writing it down can help.

Joshua 1:9

"Be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God, is with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9, The New American Bible

You can't escape God. He is always right there by your side. He is with you through every challenge, celebrating every victory (no matter how small), and guiding you down the path He created just for you! You are never alone.

Proverbs 16:3

"Entrust your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed." -Proverbs 16:3, The New American Bible

If you ever find yourself stuck and unsure of what to do next turn to God. He will guide you to the next step, and lead stay with your until you succeed.

Psalms 37:5

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act." -Psalms 37:5, the New American Bible

No matter how busy or crazy life gets always remember to pause and thank God. Say a prayer. Try to forget all of the things you need to get done and take one minute of your time to simply be thankful. Everything will get done. Just remember... life is not all about tackling your to-do list!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
