Bible Verses For The Stressed College Student

If you have been, or are currently a college student, that means you have experienced the inevitable wall that every student runs into head first every semester. Maybe you haven't gotten there yet, maybe you're beginning to see the other side of it, or maybe (like me) you are there right now.

Research papers to be typed, projects to be researched, reflections to be reflected on, and a terrifying amount of chapters that all need to be read all by next Tuesday. Factor in the mound of laundry staring you in the face, your screaming hall-mates, and the fact that you seem to have misplaced your favorite pair of pajamas, and you have yourself a recipe for some epic stress. I have put together a few of my favorite bible verses that are encouraging, and remind me who I belong to, and to keep everything in perspective. I hope they do the same for you.

1. +Hebrews 13:5-6

Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear, what can man do for me?

Instead of worrying about small, meaningless things that may or may not even happen, remember who you are. You are a child of the most high king! Why would you let something get you down whenever you have your Heavenly Father looking out for you?

2. +Ephesians 2:10

We are God's masterpiece. He has created us new in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

You are beautiful! You are amazing! Jesus loves you just the way you are; you don't have to cut your hair or lose some weight just to gain his acceptance. He has amazing things planned for you and you are the only one who is able to carry out those plans! The world would be completely different without you in it; you make this a better place. Don't forget that.

3. +Psalm 37:23-24

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detain of their lives. Though they may stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

If you actively seek God with everything in you, then he will do the same. Take one step towards him and he will do the rest; he's just awesome like that! When you live for him, them even though you will have storms in you life, he will be there beside you holding your umbrella.

4. +Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

God has this crazy thing called life all planned out. He knows what he is doing and that is a huge comfort to me because when things get crazy and I have no idea what is going on, my Savior does!

5. +Zechariah 9:12

"...I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles."

Life sucks sometimes. It's a proven fact. You are going to have awful days; that is also a proven fact. However, even if you feel alone, God is always with you and your day is coming when you will be rewarded for all that you have been through.

6. +John 13:7

Jesus replied, "You don't understand now what I am doing, but someday you will."

Everything is going to make perfect sense one day. When life gets painful and I think that the universe is just playing a joke on me, I find this verse so comforting because it is yet another reminder that God knows what he is doing.

7. +Luke 1:45

"You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said."

Faith is a powerful thing and if you have enough of it, amazing things can happen. When you believe that God will intervene and bless you, he will. And if he doesn't, he is still good.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
