Be Not Afraid

Bible Verses for Every College Student
Wimbledon International Seven-Day Adventist Church

College contains stress, uncertainty and fears. Sometimes, we don't really know where to turn or how to handle it. Many of the answers that we are looking for are found in scripture. All we have to do is look, and we're sure to find something inspiring and great.

1. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." -Deuteronomy 31:6

The phrase "do not be afraid" is used the most in the Bible, there is a good reason. We should find comfort and hope in the Lord.

2. "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him." - Psalm 28: 7-8

Many times we forget to remember the little things and thank God. Sometimes, that's all it takes to put our problems in perspective.

3. "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge." - Psalm 18:2

We just need a reminder sometimes that we always have a strong foundation.

4. "Rise up; this matter is in your hands. Take courage and do it." -Ezra 10:4

Our life is our control. We can have courage if we put our faith in God.

5. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." -Proverbs 16:3

Put our plans in the Lord's hands, and no matter what, it will all turn out okay.

6. "The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?" - Psalm 27:1

Anything is possible if we trust in Him.

7. "Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day." - 2Corinthians 4:16

There are many influences around us that make us doubt ourselves. All that matters is what's on the inside; that's all God sees.

8. "Truly, truly I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life." -John 6:47

There is something so much more than our worries on this world.

9. "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him." - Romans 8:28

We have to trust in God's plan. Everything will work out in the end.

10. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31

All we need is to turn to God's love.

11. "Always let Him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow."- Proverbs 3:5-6

God protects us from evil, He will make our path straight.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
