Life is hard. Even during the summer it's easy to get caught up in the news and the tragedies that occur across the country every day, and it's even easier to lose focus on who you are and who gave you life. For me, summer is a time to see my friends, but it's also a time to recharge from school and gain insight and wisdom into the coming school year. I know that a lot of other Christians may struggle with this, so below is a list of 10 bible verses that I picked out to help remind people who seem to be forgetting some important things.

1. 2 Corinthians 6:18

"And I will be your father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

Because we all need a reminder about who we are.

2. Zephaniah 3:17

"For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

Because love is all we need when we can’t motivate ourselves.

3. Psalm 62:5-8

"Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
7 My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
8 O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge.
"

Because rest for our souls comes from the Lord.

4. Psalm 139:14

"Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
"

Because it’s nice to have a reminder who created us and how his works help us.

5. Ecclesiastes 7:21-22

"21 Don’t eavesdrop on others—you may hear your servant curse you.22 For you know how often you yourself have cursed others."

Because it’s easy to forget that what other people say doesn’t matter when you know who you are

6. Isaiah 61:1

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed."

Because helping others is why we’re here.

7. Romans 12:12

"Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying."

Because knowing how to act helps with motivation.

8. 2 Corinthians 4:16

"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."

Because wasting away can mean renewal.

9. Galatians 5:1

"So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law."

Because freedom has never felt so good.

10. John 3:16

"For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."

Because it’s always good to know that someone died so you could live.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
