Everyone has something or someone they love and can't seem to talk about enough. That person for me is the one and only Jesus Christ and the Bible. The wonders that are hidden within this book are astounding and I find myself in awe every time I read it.
In my typical Godly fashion, I felt the need to share some verses that I find extremely powerful and moving. These are only five out of hundreds, but hopefully, they will move you just as much as they move me.
1. "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18
This verse is what ultimately drove this article into being because it is just THAT good. I had literal shivers the first time I heard it. This verse is saying that there is so much more to life even after death. We need to believe in the "unseen" and that is where God is. It is so easy for us to only focus on the visual aspects of life and discredit things that are not. Yet this verse is saying the exact opposite and that is what makes it so powerful.
2. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble on its own." Matthew 6:34-35
This verse tells us to do something that is easier said than done. "Do not worry about tomorrow" but how can we not worry? We have tests to worry about, jobs to go to, presentations to make, sporting events. Yet the last verse tells us that each day has its own worries, trials, and tribulations and how can we focus on those when we are concerned about tomorrow, which hasn't even happened yet. Ultimately, we need to cast our worries on God, because it is only through Him and because of Him that we continue to live on each and every day.
3. "The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." Psalm 34:10
God is enough. That is what this verse tells us. God does not give us Christians everything we want, but he does give us enough spiritual love in our hearts to turn to Him in times of honest need. God knows what we truly need and he knows our deepest desires and more often than not, He answers in unexpected ways.
4. "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm." Proverbs 13:20
A simple interpretation of this would be, be smart with who you surround yourself with because those people end up impacting your decisions. Yet it also says that we need to reach out to the wise because they are oftentimes the ones with greater knowledge and experience. Our close friends are great to talk to and get advice from, but they are more likely to agree with you and not give you the wisest advice compared to that of what an elder would give.
5. "Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." Luke 3:18
We should not put our faith in money, possessions, skills, or other people but in God and His Son He sent down to save us. We need to ask for His help to overcome our earthly fears and the faith we put in the "seen." This leads right back to the first verse I quoted, that what is "unseen" (God) is eternal and what is "seen" is only temporary, such as the things I listed above. Believing only in the "seen" leads to condemnation, and I think it is pretty evident the wonders that come from believing.
