Verse of the Day: Luke 6:29 NIV

Bible Verse of the Day - March 1, 2023 Wednesday

If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. — Luke 6:29 NIV

Reflection on Verse for Today

Although God is a God of justice and must punish all sin, He is also a God of love and mercy, kindness and compassion, longsuffering and great goodness. As His children, we are commanded to emulate the godly traits and merciful attitude that He has shown to each of us who has been saved by grace through faith in Him.

Never forget that forgiveness will lead to forgiveness, mercy will follow mercy, and punishment will result in punishment. Also, someone who is punished will also be punished, both in this life and in the next.

When Jesus said, “Whoever strikes you on the cheek, turn to him likewise the other; and whatsoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either,” he was referring to physical contact. When Jesus humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even death on a Cross—by living it throughout His earthly existence as an example of how we should live in this twisted and corrupt world, He did not merely speak it out loud. Let us honestly and really accept the message of Christ, deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, in a violent world where many people’s love has become ice-cold, there is frequently a temptation to criticize, condemn, and exact revenge on those who attack or harm us or those we love. Please grant me the ability to follow Christ’s example and to treat people with love. To Your glory, help me to put this verse into practice in my day-to-day activities by taking up my cross and following you. I ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo
