Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. — 1 Chronicles 16:10 KJV
Reflection
Where do you find your glory? Do you take pride in your achievements, your wealth, your status, your good looks, your piety, your humility, etc.? We confess these words in the classic song “Beneath the Cross of Jesus,” which goes as follows: “My glory, all the Cross.” When Christians say things like, “we glory in the holy name of God,” they mean just this. Jesus has contributed significantly to a more comprehensive understanding of the sacred name of God. Not only did Jesus teach us to revere the name of God, but he also instructed us to address him as Father. Every other reason for happiness, every other ground for bragging, is a mirage that will soon be gone. Those whose minds are set on finding the LORD will discover that the path to glory lies in showing reverence for the holy name of the Father, who gave up his most precious Son so that we can become his children. That is how much love he has for us.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, You have showered so many kinds of blessings upon me. Where do I even begin to express how much I appreciate you? I will freely admit that there are times when I look for glory for myself, despite the fact that I am aware that such things are transient and that, most of the time, they are nothing more than the false flattery of those who want something from me. But I know that the adoption covenant that you sealed with your grace is where my genuine pride lies, and that knowledge is buried deep within my heart, dear God. Thank you! Although it is impossible to adequately express my gratitude in words, I want you to know that I will be grateful to you till the end of time for everything you have done. I pray that you receive all the glory that is due to you in heaven as well as on earth, both right now and in the ages to come. I give you praise in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
