There are no shortage of coffee shops in the Bryan/College Station area and since this is a College town I think it's safe to say a majority of this population lives on caffeine.

So I wanted to highlight some amazing coffee shops in our area, since it's coming to the end of another semester and sometimes you just don't want to drag yourself to a library but need to escape your apartment and grab a nice cup of coffee.

In no particular order...

Gogh Gogh Coffee Shop

Located: 4121 Texas 6 Frontage Road
College Station, TX 77845

I fell in love with this coffee shop when I worked for Cortiers Real Estate this past summer! It's located in the same building and has beautiful murals painted on the walls and gorgeous artwork on display from local artists. They also serve beer and wine, so added bonus for when you get off work! Gogh Gogh also serves donuts from Babes Doughnut and Coffee Shop!

I LOVE this place, it just opened on April 3rd and I've already been there twice. Great coffee, great service, super cute design and the staff was so nice! They also serve wine and amazing cheese boards! A great addition to B/CS Community!!

I love Lupa's! It's right down the road from my apartment so I am always there, they're vanilla lavender latte is amazing! Whether you want a smoothie, iced vanilla salted caramel dirty chai latte, or a good ole black cup of coffee Lupa's is the coffee house for you!

Minuti Coffee

Located: Under North Point Cross Apartments at University Dr and Texas Ave.

This is a cute little coffee shop with Italian roots! They offer a wide variety of teas and coffees and GELATO! They roast and import all of their own coffee from Modena, Italy. They also make their own drinkable chocolate called Cioco Delice. YUM!!

Babes Doughnuts and Coffee Shop

Photocred: Savannah Fisher

This place serves breakfast and brunch and amazing coffee! Just look at those donuts, they're delicious! My friends have been posting about this donut/coffee shop for weeks now and I finally got to try it for myself! Definitely a great addition to B/CS community! The former owner of Kai’s Doughnuts is the proprietor of Babe’s. You can also get Babe’s products fresh daily at Gogh Gogh Coffee Company in south College Station.

What's The Buzz Coffee Co.

Located: 2151 Harvey Mitchell Parkway S.
College Station, TX 77840

The owners of this coffee shop seem very passionate! They primarily roast single-origin coffee beans from small estate, fair trade and/or organic farms. They are a localized micro-roastery, so you can enjoy a truly fresh cup of coffee today. They also serve a variety of pastries and often team up with The Studio BCS for a coffee and Barre class!

The Brew Coffeehouse

This place has a great cup of coffee! I love their "Secret Handshake" drink! They are a large and spacious coffee shop located on Harvey Rd, close to Texas Ave next to Connecting Point Church. They have big comfy chairs, fast internet, and power outlets near all perimeter seating. They serve all kinds of coffee, tea and even hot chocolate. They also have a conference room you can reserve for business or school needs!

I love this place!! They have amazing pastries and great coffee, so many flavors to choose from and the staff is so friendly! Not to mention how adorable the designs are they put in your coffee, it's always something different every time I go there!

Republic Coffee

Located: West End Elixir, 100 Church Ave
College Station, TX 77840

This place serves quality coffee and made-from-scratch crepes inside the West End Elixir Company! I also love their mission statement, "We are steadfast in our effort to support the growing Veteran population returning home, swift in addressing the unmet needs of the hurting in our communities and vigilant in protecting our farmers abroad." Great cause they support and an amazing place to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

My Daily Bread Bakery

Located: 109 Walton Drive
College Station, TX 77840

This place is so adorable, their staff is super sweet! They serve fresh, handmade goodies, hand crafted specialty espresso drinks, and Guatemalan Bread. Their passion is to share the happy!

These coffee shops I featured were in no particular order! I honestly have nothing negative to say about any of them, some get way more crowded than others but that's probably just based on location!

I definitely recommend trying some or ALL of these coffee shops while finishing the semester! It's a nice change of scenery and all of them offer great food and delicious cups of coffee! Some even offer a glass of wine or beer after a long day of studying!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
