To My Best Friend's Future Husband
Ever After Guide

To the man who’s going to marry my best friend,

Congratulations, you have won the love of one of the most amazing women to walk this planet. The girl that you are planning to spend the rest of your life with is one of the sweetest, most beautiful people that I’ve ever met. But I don’t have to tell you this, you already know that. But before you promise to love her for the rest of her life, there are some things you should know.

My girl (okay, I’ll share her with you, so our girl) is one of a kind. She’s strong and smart. There’s nothing in the world that could hold her back. I am trusting you with one of the most important people in my life and with that I am sure you treat her like the princess she is. You must be one of a kind for her to feel this way about you.

She’s had her share of heartbreaks. She’s been led on, lied too and used. But despite everything, she’s had the strength to come looking for the one man to prove to her that you all aren’t the same. I’m glad she’s found you, she was growing a bit impatient waiting. Don’t ever underestimate her ability to be your partner in life. She’s going to give you more support than you ever thought imaginable. And I expect you to do the same for her.

Let me remind you quickly that you might have legally married my girl, but you’ve also unofficially married me to. What does that mean? Simple, we are a package deal. Luckily you get two pretty amazing women in your life. As long as you love her unconditionally, we won’t have a problem. And you’ll learn to love me almost as much as you love her.

I will also be your go-to girl. I know it’ll seem like I’m only there for her, but I promise to be there for you whenever you need advice. I know this girl better than most people and I can offer you so much more info. If she’s upset, call me up and I’ll tell you how you screwed up and what you’ll need to do to fix it. If you want to plan a big surprise for my girl, I got you covered. But no matter how much help I give you, I’ll always let you take full credit.

Just know that if you hurt her, I will hunt you down and you’ll have a bigger problem. I doubt that’ll happen because like I said before, you’re a special guy but I will cut your you-know-what off and be your worst nightmare if you hurt her.

But let me just say, I’m so glad that she’s met you. I can only imagine how incredibly happy you make my best friend. I know she doesn’t fall in love all that easily, so I know you’re a catch. You’re the one and I finally won’t have to pretend to be her girlfriend when that creepy guy hits on her at the bar (but if we are out alone, expect that to happen. A girls gotta be there for her best friend, what can I say?)

Thank you for making her laugh. For loving every part of her, flaws and all. Thank you for making her feel like the prettiest woman in the world and making her feel like she’s won the lottery. Thanks for proving to me that I wasn’t wrong when I told her the right guy would come along.

Just make me a promise. Promise me that you won’t take her away from me. That no matter what, I’ll always have my best friend because I need her more than anything and that would tear me apart.

One day, she’ll be the best mother to your beautiful children. You’ll find her randomly singing to any song. She’ll dance to her own beat. But I promise there’s nobody who is going to ever love you more than her.

Take care of my girl, she’s one of a kind. Make her feel like the most beautiful woman in the universe. And I know that you’ll have the time of your life with her by your side.

It won’t be easy, but I know you can do it. Take care of my friend for me.

Love,

Your future wife’s best friend.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
