15 Realities When You've Been Best Friends For 15 Years

Everyone knows how that saying goes, "if a friendship lasts longer than 7 years, psychologists say it will last a lifetime," and I've been very lucky to have a few friends that I've known for longer than 7 years...but what happens when you're friends with someone for a little over 15 years?! I've been best friends with Mady since we were 5 and 6 years old in Kindergarten, and A LOT has changed in the past 15 years, especially when you basically grow up with someone. If you've been friends with someone for over 15 years like me, then you know these ____ things about long-time friendships are SO true.

1. No more privacy

If anyone else walked into the room while I was trying to get ready, I would be super embarrassed, but we've been around each other for so long that I don't even care anymore.

2. Their house becomes yours, and vice versa

Mi casa es su casa. All the food in the fridge becomes theirs, your bed becomes theirs, the tv becomes theirs, it's like you have two houses.

3. You've been "adopted" into each others families

And, if your families are like ours, they refer to you as their adopted daughter/brother to their friends.

4. People think that you're siblings when you're out in public together.

I mean...we do kind of (not really) look alike...

5. Boyfriends or girlfriends have gotten the "stamp of approval"

The most important opinion of them all comes from your best friend, because best friends know best.

6. You feel comfortable just waltzing into their house

"Can I come over?" "Yeah." "Ok, I'm in your driveway."

7. You literally do nothing when you hang out

Sitting in front of the TV and watching reruns of Teen Mom sounds like a perfect day to me

8. Screenshots of fights or arguments are sent to you

Are they fighting with their boyfriend/girlfriend, another friend, or a parent over text? If so, then you better prepare to receive at least 10 screenshots of the fight.

9. You go everywhere together

"Wanna go to Walmart?"

10. You start to like the same things

Mady only knew 3 All Time Low songs before we started hanging out again...look at her now!

11. They know your entire life story

Day and time you were born and what hospital it was at, your parents and siblings' full names, literally everything about you, they know.

12. You get jealous when someone else calls them their "best friend"

Excuse me, pal, this one's mine, go get your own!!!!

13. You enjoy going through old pictures of yourselves

THAT'S what I looked like in middle school? Whoa...

14. You get bored whenever they're busy or working

What am I supposed to do while you're living your life without me???

15. You wouldn't trade them for anything else in the world

I honestly couldn't imagine being best friends with anyone else.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
